Cllr Norma Moriarty says the development is another chapter in the never ending mess that is Irish Water.The Department of Social Protection is currently writing to households telling them that they can now apply for the conservation grant.Cllr Moriarty says the State is already €800m worse off because of the setting up of Irish Water and the government is now introducing a new charge that will cost them money.

Speaking at Kerry County Council’s June Meeting the Fianna Fáil Cllr spoke of an incident in Caherciveen recently when an ambulance couldn’t transport a patient to hospital because there was only one paramedic on duty.The incident occurred at a GAA match.

I would like at the outset to gratefully acknowledge the presence of Brian Crowley MEP and of course John O’Donoghue who served as minister of Justice and Minister of Art, Sport and Tourism as well as Ceann Comhairle. The O’Donoghue family have given 54 years of sterling service to public life and continue that service today. John O’Donoghue has left a fine legacy from his time in cabinet with the Legal Aid Board here in Cahersiveen and the Arts Department in Killarney.
